What is GlicoDex?

GlicoDex is a seven-ingredient dietary supplement capsule containing Berberine HCl 500mg, Gymnema Sylvestre 400mg, Cinnamon Bark Extract 250mg, Bitter Melon Extract 200mg, Alpha Lipoic Acid 150mg, Banaba Leaf Extract 100mg and Chromium Picolinate 200mcg. It is formulated to support healthy glucose metabolism in adults.

The thing that separates it from most of its shelf-mates is that the amounts are printed. A great many products in this category hide everything inside a "proprietary blend", which makes it impossible to check a dose against published research. Here you can, and that is the reason this site leads with the label rather than with claims.

It is made in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility in the United States. Being precise about that phrase: it describes the manufacturing site and the standards it works to. It is not FDA approval, because the FDA does not approve dietary supplement formulas at all.

Who is it for?

Adults roughly 35 and over who are working on metabolic health through diet and movement, who are not taking prescription glucose lowering medication, and who want a botanical adjunct to that work.

That is a narrower group than the marketing in this category usually implies, and the narrowness is the point. Someone eating better, walking more and wanting nutritional support alongside those changes is a reasonable buyer. Someone hoping a capsule will substitute for those changes is not.

Who should not take it?

Anyone taking metformin, insulin or another glucose lowering medication without their doctor's agreement first. Berberine lowers blood sugar and compounds with those drugs, which can push blood sugar too low.

Also: anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or nursing, anyone with reduced kidney function without clinical advice, and anyone with diagnosed diabetes under medical management who has not discussed it with their care team. Full detail is on the safety page, and it is worth reading before you order rather than after.

What it does not do

GlicoDex does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or reverse diabetes or any other condition. The NIH's NCCIH states that overall there is not enough scientific evidence to show that any dietary supplement can manage or prevent type 2 diabetes.

That is the honest backdrop for the whole category, not a knock on this product specifically. No finished-product trial for GlicoDex has been published either — the research covers individual ingredients at their own doses. Buy it, if you buy it, as nutritional support alongside the things that actually move metabolic health. See packages and pricing →
